Local Developers Break Ground on Clough Farm Workforce Housing Project

Developers Steven Lewis, Inc. and Trident Building Group marked the official start of the Clough Farm apartment complex in Braemoor Woods in Salem, NH with a groundbreaking ceremony at 1:00 pm Friday, June 8, 2012. The 32-unit apartment complex will provide affordable housing for Salem-area families.

Speakers included introductions by Steven Lewis of Steven Lewis, Inc. and opening comments by State Senator, Chuck Morse who discussed the project; Dean Christon, Executive Director, New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority who talked about public/private partnerships; Mike Lyons, Selectman, Town of Salem, who talked about affordable housing for Salem and Kimberlie Randlett-Hoffman spokesman for Build Green NH Council of Home Builders and Remodelers of New Hampshire.

The Clough Farm project received tax credits and construction financing from New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority and will fill a critical gap by providing affordable housing options for working people in the Salem area.

The development will be constructed using green technology and low environmental impact methods including cutting-edge storm water management, low impact landscaping techniques and a community garden. Landscaping will incorporate native plants, rain gardens and bio-retention basins to save and recharge ground water.

Construction on the Clough Farm apartment complex has already begun with a completion date expected in Spring of 2013.
