New Homeownership Fellowship Program offers immersive education in lending, housing

New Hampshire Housing welcomed its inaugural class of Homeownership Fellows last week. Through the agency’s new Homeownership Fellowship Program, eight Fellows will, over the next ten months, be discussing and learning about the mortgage lending system and the creation of affordable housing in New Hampshire. The immersive experience will include meetings at the New Hampshire State House and Washington, D.C., to speak with political leaders and key mortgage industry officials about lending and housing policy.

Fellows were selected through a competitive process that was open to members of the mortgage lending community. This year’s class includes Julie Cosgrove, Loan Originator at Merrimack County Savings Bank; Lisa Cressey, Retail Lending Underwriter/Team Leader at Northway Bank; Carrie DiGeorge, AVP/Sr. Retail Lender at Federal Savings Bank; Michelle Hayward, Mortgage Loan Officer at Savings Bank of Walpole; Dennis Kochanek, Jr., Branch Manager at Residential Mortgage Services; Jennifer McCall, Licensed Loan Originator/Branch Manager at Merrimack Mortgage Co.; Sarah Powell, Loan Officer at Connecticut River Bank; and Tammy Verani, Senior Loan Officer at Residential Mortgage Services.

“The goal of our Homeownership Fellowship Program is to engage lenders beyond just the transaction with New Hampshire Housing,” said Ignatius MacLellan, Managing Director of Homeownership at New Hampshire Housing. “We want loan officers and mortgage underwriters to see the larger picture of housing in the state, so they can better understand the opportunities and challenges of creating affordable housing.”
